Cogito, ergo sum and Advaita Vedanta - Part 2

Post a Comment

Thinker thinks on something. An Observer observes something. A Knower tries to know something.

Here is the counter argument to “Cogito, ergo sum” meaning "I think, therefore I am".

Can a Thinker “exist” without doing any thinking? Can an Observer “exist” without observing anything? Can a Knower “exist” without trying to know anything?

The answers to all the questions above are one and the same which is a resounding “Yes”.

Yes, one can definitely exist without doing any thinking or observation or knowing.

According to Advaita Vedanta, the goal is to Think about the Thinker, Observe the Observer or Know the Knower. The Seeker is the sought.
